The story behind Spinder: Your story on wheels

Our story begins in the early 1980s in the north of the Netherlands. Back then, the first Spinder bike racks rolled off the production line in Harkema, Friesland. From day one, two things were paramount: solid quality and absolute safety.

Did you used to see a Spinder on the back of or on top of a car? If so, you’d recognise it straight away by its iconic yellow detail. It was the hallmark of a quintessentially Dutch quality product that has since carried countless cyclists to the most beautiful destinations.

A new gear: Spinder & Tradekar

A lot has changed since the early 1980s. Bikes have become lighter, e-bikes have become widespread, and cyclists’ needs have evolved. To truly give this innovation room to flourish, Tradekar acquired the Spinder brand and its product range in 2013, and since then Spinder has also been part of the Tradekar House of Leisure Brands.

Under the banner of Tradekar House of Leisure Brands, Spinder found a strong and professional home. Tradekar embodies recreation and leisure, and possesses vast expertise in the automotive sector. By combining its Frisian roots with the strength of Tradekar, today’s Spinder was born: a brand that combines the solid reliability of the past with the modern designs of today.
