Which premium bike carrier is right for you?

Anyone looking for a reliable bike carrier for two (electric) bikes will come across the Spinder SC2 and SX2. As all our carriers share many of the same features, the differences lie in the finer details. That’s why we’re going to take a closer look at these two models, so you can decide which carrier best suits your car and bike(s).

What characteristics do both carriers have in common?

At their core, the SC2 and SX2 are evenly matched. They both have a maximum load capacity of 60 kilos, which is sufficient for two e-bikes, mountain bikes or city bikes. In addition, they can easily be expanded from two to three bikes using an optional wheel adapter. Would you like to store your bike carrier? You can easily fold both models down compactly to do so.

The difference between these carriers

The main differences lie in the flexibility, colour and weight. Whilst the silver-coloured SX2 bike carrier can only tilt, the black-coated SC2 carrier goes one step further. This carrier can extend up to 700 mm. This is particularly suitable for camper vans with doors that open outwards. But even when fitted to your car’s tow bar, this creates extra space to access your boot without having to lift the bikes off first.

The way the bike frame is secured is also slightly different on the SX2 carrier. Here, the bikes are secured using height-adjustable V-arms. The advantage of this is that you can easily decide where to attach the frame holders to the bike. With 7- and 13-pin plugs, this carrier will almost always fit.

The SC2 is fitted with a U-frame, allowing the frame holders to be moved along the frame to fit around the bike frame. More flexibility, less hassle. Effortlessly slide the SC2’s holders into the perfect position. Ideal for bikes with non-standard frames. This carrier offers a practical advantage when storing: the LED lights can be folded away to make the carrier even more compact. On the SX2, the lights are permanently mounted on the carrier.

Finally, there’s the weight, a factor you really notice when lifting it and fitting it to the tow bar. Whilst the SC2 has a kerb weight of 21 kilos, the SX2 weighs just 18 kilos.
